LAS VEGAS

July 2005 - Las Vegas baby!!
We headed to the crazy town of Vegas to have a few days vacation and attend a good friend's wedding.

Vegas is crazy.  It's like going around the world within a few blocks.  We spent a bunch of time enjoying the nutty surroundings and walking up and down the 'strip'.

Some of the various wildlife we encountered on our travels.  Most of these pics are from an "All Predator" Aquarium in our hotel.  Awesome.

Poolside fun.  The wave-pool was a fun time, if a little shallow.  I think they meant for kids to be rolling around in there...  oh well.

We rented a car and took a trip to the Hoover Dam and then to the Grand Canyon.  Wow!  We'd never really been in a desert before and the heat and landscape were equally impressive.  Hoover Dam was larger than life, and we both had a great time visiting the museum and taking a guided tour into the inner workings.

Onto the Grand Canyon.  We left the dam and continued to the Grand Canyon.  Once there, we actually got a very reasonable rate on a helecopter ride down into the valley and then hopped in a boat to really get a feel for the scenery.  Flying near those steep canyon walls was a real treat!

Vegas at night.  The light show on the strip was really fun and shows why Vegas is such a destination.  We stopped along the way to see the fountain demonstration and see some of the nightlife.
