Poor Milo - September 29, 2011
It was a long week for Milo (and everyone else too)! The poor little guy got antibiotics for an ear infection on Sunday. He ended up being home from school all week! Craig and I took turns being home with him between Mon and Wednesday and Grandma very nicely stepped back into the rescue on Thursday. He was feeling better by Thursday, but still not entirely himself. Apparently the table seemed like a good place to have a little rest!

Bubble Boy - September 28, 2011
A good experiment to pull out in a pinch!

Does a year really make a difference?! - September 24, 2011
Kaden started his parent-and-tot skating again today. We decided to repeat the class before putting him on the ice on is own in a preschool class...good thing too as he seems to have forgotten everything he learned last winter! Actually...it turns out the skates we got him didn't fit quite right. We remedied the situation for this second lesson at which point the instructor said we could bump him up to the preschool class that was taking place at the same time. I guess he was able to stand up better that week :]

ABCs and 123s - September 22, 2011
Today while Milo and I were out running some errands he demonstrated his love of letters and numbers - using sounds and French!

Back to the Beaches - September 17, 2011
It has been a while since we were in our old stomping grounds in Toronto. This morning we were visiting some friends for brunch. We got there a bit early so we took the boys down to climb on the rocks. After a yummy brunch we were back outside heading to a park. Milo and Kaden were very helpful in pushing/guarding the stroller!

Thank goodness for grandparents! - September 16, 2011
Today is my day off - Friday. However this week I had a client meeting scheduled in London. Grandma and Grandpa were in to the rescue! Milo got to spend the day playing with them (and tiring them out) while Kaden was at school and I was able to go to my meeting. Scheduling...still a work in progress :]

Bubble Sculptures - September 15, 2011
Kaden's new science kit has almost 50 experiments, but some are more time consuming than others. He's been sorting through the experiment cards to find simple ones that we can do after school/before dinner. Today was another experiment with bubbles - making bubble sculptures!

Simple Science - September 13, 2011
Today's experiment was about making and blowing bubbles!

Kaden's first day of school! - September 12, 2011
Kaden's a big boy now - Jr. Kindergarten for full days at a new Montessori school! The school he attends requires the kids to wear uniforms - too cute. We don't have everything yet (for some reason they are quite slow in getting our order placed). But even with just the collared shirt he looks like a little man!

Now that both boys have their first days of school under their belts we spoiled them with "Hooray for School" gifts :] Milo got a large car transporting truck and Kaden got a Magic School Bus science kit - both were very excited!

Sunny Sunday - September 11, 2011
One (of many) new things to take into account with our new schedule is when to grocery shop! Being at home I could go any day with the boys. Now that I am at work it makes it more of a challenge. So Craig took the boys down to the lake this afternoon while I popped to Loblaws. Not a fair trade, I don't suppose, but shopping with no kids can be somewhat enjoyable! Down at the lake it didn't take long for Kaden to take his first step into the water - with his shoes on!!! Since he was wet already Craig gave him free reign. In the blink of an eye he was knee deep in water and fishing for rocks up to his shoulder! Milo tried to follow suit, but wasn't as interested in a dip.

Take me out to the ball game! - September 10, 2011
Today we met up with one of the boys' (second) cousins, Spencer. He's about year older than Kaden. With several grandparents in tow we went down to a local park to play. It was really fun - the boys all enjoyed each other's company and managed to play really well together despite the age differences.

We left one park for another. Today was Kaden's final t-ball tournament. They played one game against another team and then received their end-of-season trophy. They get professional photos taken of themselves and their team too. Kaden had fun. I don't think the outfield is his favourite place to be (no action), but despite all the dirt kicking he said he would like to play again next summer.

Batter, batter, batter....SWING...batter!

While we were at the park this morning, Auntie Brenda gave Kaden the quilt she made for him. He's quite proud of it and wanted to lay it out to show it off. Thanks Auntie Bren!

It was a busy morning...everyone needed 40 winks!

Friday Fun - September 9, 2011
Milo and I are both home of Fridays and Kaden doesn't start school until Monday so we venture off to the park together for a morning of fun in the sun.

Milo's first day of school! - September 6, 2011
Much to his dismay, Milo embarked on his first full day at daycare today (although his pictures say otherwise!). What a big boy! He's not a big fan of talking about going and he's sulky at drop-off, but other than that he has a good day. It will be an adjustment for all.

Happy Birthday Nanna! - September 5, 2011
Nanna and Poppa arrived today (lucky Nanna making the long road trip on her birthday) to help us out over the next couple of days. I mistakenly assumed Kaden's school would start after labour day when I arranged for Milo to start full days his daycare and for me to start back in the office! Turns out his school doesn't start until next week. I promised my mom it would be a "worst case" scenario that would see us needing their help...unfortunately for them it came down to it. So they arrived on Monday to hang out with Kaden for the next two days. I know Kaden was happy with the arrangement! The least we could do was help Nanna celebrate her birthday!

The Calvert brothers bring their own style to the kitchen! - September 3, 2011
It has been a busy summer and we're on the eve of a new chapter in our lives - Kaden starts kindergarten at a full-day Montessori school, Milo starts preschool at a daycare and I am back to work! Before we get down to business after the long weekend we had the family over for an end-of-summer party. Not too many pictures tonight actually, but I couldn't resist taking a a few shots of of the colourful men at work in the kitchen!
