The race is on! - February 28, 2011
It's nice to watch the boys play more and more together. Milo of course wants to do everything Kaden does (and take anything Kaden has) and Kaden generally resorts to squashing Milo, but in the interim they find ways to happily play together. Kaden can often be heard calling to Milo like he's a dog "come on Milo, whistle, whistle, follow me"!

Keeping Trying - February 27, 2011
I wonder if Milo's dislike of the Jolly Jumper has anything to do with his current jumping skills?!? He's working hard, but can't quite seem to clear the ground with both feet at the same time (although he is getting better on the trampoline)!

A Painting Project - February 24, 2011
The boys painted picture frames today to put in their rooms. They turned out pretty well if you ask me!

C is for Cookie! - February 22, 2011
Auntie Glenda sent us home with giant cookies, which the boys happily chomped for dessert tonight.

Happy Family Day! - February 21, 2011
Gran and Grandee joined us for a morning bowling adventure followed by a pancake lunch. Fun! Turns out they are both bowling pros. No match for my joke-inducing bowling stance though. Unfortunately Kaden cleared the board before I could get a clear shot with the names and scores, but trust me, that top score is mine!

More shoveling fun sans mitts...what a serious face!

Road Trip! - February 19-20, 2011
We made a quick trip to Ottawa this weekend. We were hoping to check out Winterlude, but the weather didn't cooperate (nor did Milo's sniffles). Everything was melted and closed when we arrived and then it was unbearably windy and cold. No matter - we had fun doing other things. We visited the newly renovated "Dinosaur Museum" (Science and Nature) on Saturday morning with Ben and Mia as well. The kids had fun at the dinosaurs, but really enjoyed the new polar bear and penguin exhibit. Oh...and the bugs too...but I didn't take pictures of any of them ;]

The boys to remarkably well in the car. We basically drove the 6-hour trek twice is less than 48-hours, but they were troopers. Kaden kept himself amused for quite a while with both their sunglasses! Fortunately they also managed to nod off for a while. When we got home, we found very little evidence of our two snowmen!

Slushy, but warm - February 16, 2011
We don't spend much time outside in the winter so whenever the windchill subsides we try to get out. Today we took a walk around the block with our shovels. Milo was been displeased with his shovel experiences so far this winter. His mitts are too big or his thumbs are too small. Either way, he can't seem to wear mitts and use the shovel. Most days it's too cold to let him take his mitts off, but today was a fine day for him to be outside with no mitts. What fun. After shoveling and splashing our way around the block we came home for "warm chocolate" and marshmallows. Apparently both my kids need to dislocate their jaws and close their eyes to get the marshmallows in!

Happy Valentine's Day! - February 14, 2011
Kaden scored at school with a box full of Valentine's cards and treats. That night we made and decorated rice crispy treats. Milo wasn't so sure at first - he just wanted to eat his treat, but he soon discovered the joy of frosting. He decorated as he munched. Kaden helped to decorate several squares before delving into his own. A funny story...Milo had a fussy dinner and I let him get up while I cleaned up and got prepped for dessert. Of course he was still fussing and trying to cling to me as I moved about. A moved out of his way during one outburst and then he slipped trying to get up. Unfortunately he bonked his face into the ground and gave himself a bloody nose (ok...the funny part of the story is still to come). He recovered and then happily enjoyed the dessert project. However as Kaden was decorating using the red icing he kept saying, "I'm making it red like Milo's blood"...ah the memories!

A few firsts - February 13, 2011
Milo has decided that coming down "feet first" is no longer for him. He now goes up and down the stairs like the rest of us. He's pretty good. Fortunately the railings aren't too high. He can often be heard stopping on every stair and saying "be careful". Of course when he stops he lets go of whatever handhold he has! We finally got some packing snow - a first for this winter. It was just before bed, but Kaden and Daddy managed to quickly build a couple snowmen.

You might be able to see Milo, but you're certainly going to be hearing someone else!
Quelle surprise ;]

In anticipation of tomorrow, I prepared the table for a breakfast surprise!

Stickers are for more than just artwork! - February 10, 2011
We were given permission to open a few of the Valentine's cards early. Today the boys opened a card from GG. It contained stickers, which Milo was quick to put to good use!

Puppeteer Take 2!- February 8, 2011
Kaden has upgraded his puppet theater to actually show his hands and have puppets on the ends of them!

Fun in the Kitchen! - February 7, 2011
The boys and I baked some cookies this afternoon. While Kaden enjoyed a staple childhood activity (licking the batter from the spoon) Milo suited up as Firefighter Calvert! Even firefighters need time to be creative ;]

A new hill discovered! - February 5, 2011
A friend from Kaden's school tipped us off to a good hill for the kids. A better slope that the one we've gone to at the park, but no so big that they can't walk back up on their own (also not as busy as some of the other big hills). Today Milo had a change of heart and really enjoyed going down the hill - SOLO! Once he came to a stop at the bottom of the hill he would say "Again!". Everybody had lots of fun slipping and sliding.

A few videos of our boys on the hill.
Surprisingly (and fortunately) Milo never fell out despite not really holding on and getting some pretty good speed.
The trudge up the hill takes longer than the slide down, but it's well worth it!

That's Crazy! - February 2, 2011
I never managed to capture Milo saying "let's do it!" (pronounced let's doooo et), but I did manage to catch this latest expression!

Skating in Motion! - February 2011
Grandma and Grandpa went to the rink to watch Kaden at skating then Grandpa put together a little video of him in action!
